Know exactly what ‘whole-house’ includes
Ask which hot- and cold-water lines, fixture branches, outdoor connections, and shutoff valves are included. Clarify whether the exterior service line from the meter is included or excluded. A partial repipe replaces selected sections; a whole-house proposal should describe the extent of the replacement rather than leave it to the label.
Identify reconnections, existing piping that will remain, access assumptions, and how unexpected concealed conditions will be handled. A supply-pipe project does not automatically replace drains or sewer lines.
PEX or copper? Choose for the installation
PEX is flexible, which can offer routing options. Copper is rigid and uses joining methods appropriate to the selected system. Neither is universally the best choice for every home. Layout, exposure, existing materials, local requirements, and manufacturer instructions all matter.
Ask for the specified pipe and fitting system, potable-water suitability, sizes, supports, and transition details. Where metallic piping has an electrical grounding or bonding role, that issue also needs appropriate review. Confirm the planned interruption window and what could change it. Permit and inspection requirements depend on the project address and scope. Establish who handles local approvals and which checks must occur before openings are closed. Do not assume that every repipe can be completed in one day.

Price depends on the number of fixtures, amount and size of piping, material system, building layout, access difficulty, and local approval requirements. Concealed damage and finish restoration can change the overall project. Ask what is included rather than comparing only a headline price.
Confirm pressure/leak testing, flushing, any required disinfection, and inspection documentation. Separate plumbing reconnection from drywall patching, painting, cabinetry, flooring, and texture matching; full finish restoration should never be assumed.
